Applying For Apps: February 2014

So, you’ve decided you’re going to apply for the DCP. What now? Oh my gosh I’m freaking out!

Here is a small list of information to gather/things to do in preparation for that glorious absolutely freaking awful insane day that apps drop.

1. Breathe. This is important.

2. Decide on which programs you will apply for. Do you want to work at DLR or WDW? Do you want to do Spring, Spring Advantage, Fall or Fall Advantage? I might be able to help with that.

3. Decide on roles!

Disneyland Resort: Attractions, Custodial, Resort Transportation & Parking, PhotoPass Photographer, Park Greeter, Disney Desk, Front Desk Guest Services, Custodial Busser, Food & Beverage Food Cart Cashier, Food Prep, Quick-Service Food & Beverage Cashier, Food & Beverage Quick-Service Restaurants, Retail Sales Clerk, Lifeguard, Cast Costuming, and Entertainment Costuming.

Walt Disney World Resort: Character Attendant, Character Performer, Lifeguard, Recreation, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique/Pirate’s League, Merchandise, Vacation Planner, Full-Service Food & Beverage, Quick-Service Restaurants, Bell Services Dispatch/Greeter, Concierge, Hospitality, Housekeeping, Attractions, Custodial, Hopper, PhotoPass Photographer, Main Entrance Operations and Transportation.

I applied for WDW so I only applied for roles there, obviously. Here is my exact interest list from my application:

High Interest: Attractions, BBB/PL, Merchandise, Concierge

Moderate Interest: MEO, Vacation Planner, Hospitality, Character Attendant, Character Performer (I never actually went to the audition)

Low Interest: FSFB, Recreation, PhotoPass Photographer

No Interest: Housekeeping, Custodial, QSFB, Transportation, Lifeguard, Hopper, Costuming, Bell Services Dispatch/Greeter

It is important to be very diligent when choosing which roles you place in these categories. You will not be hired based on how many roles you select. Selecting interest for all does not look more or less appealing than only being interested in a few. You will be considered for any of the roles that you have expressed any interest in, including low interest. Choose wisely, young padawans.

4. Wait.

5. Find out that apps have dropped—then apply! (And also breathe again.)
